DONEGAL CIVIL SERVANTS IN STRIKE THREAT OVER OFFICE RE-LOCATION

first_imgDEPARTMENT of Agriculture staff have threatened to go on strike if they are forced to switch offices.Staff who work at its Raphoe office, are being told they are being transferred to positions in Donegal town, Buncrana and Letterkenny. But the staff, who provide veterinary and other services to the farming community, have voted 100pc in favour of industrial action if they are forced to move, claiming they do not have transport to get to the offices, says the Irish Independent. Today one insider said the move would effect eight staff but all 20 employees are prepared to strike. There is a particular objection to transfers to Buncrana which is a 90kms round-trip – 45km more than agreed for civil service transfers in the Croke Park agreement. An arbitration process is now underway with the union claiming that without proper public transport, the transfers are unfair. The Irish Independent reports on the story today here: http://www.independent.ie/national-news/state-staff-to-strike-if-forced-into-90km-work-round-trip-3083663.html  DONEGAL CIVIL SERVANTS IN STRIKE THREAT OVER OFFICE RE-LOCATION was last modified: April 18th, 2012 by BrendaShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:DONEGAL CIVIL SERVANTS IN STRIKE THREAT OVER OFFICE RE-LOCATIONlast_img read more
