Prep roundup: Montclair Prep sweeps Delphic volleyball match

first_imgSophomore Lisa Weintraub led Montclair Prep with nine kills and four blocks Tuesday as Montclair Prep bolstered its playoff hopes with a 3-0 Delpic League girls’ volleyball sweep of visiting Dominguez Hills California Academy of Math and Science of Carson. Senior Katie Lyzenga contributed 20 assists and seven aces for the Mounties (8-6 overall, 4-2 Delphic), who claimed a 25-11, 26-24, 25-15 victory. Montclair Prep, which finished third in the Delphic League last year, is seeking their second Southern Section playoff appearance in nine years. Chaminade 3, Alemany 0: Kim Capicotto had nine kills and Emma Watson added 19 assists as Chaminade of West Hills defeated visiting Alemany of Mission Hills 25-20, 25-18, 25-19 in a Mission League match. Campbell Hall 12, Buckey 6: Campbell Hall of North Hollywood, playing without No. 1 singles player Katarina Reveche, overcame Buckley of Sherman Oaks in a Liberty League match. The Vikings were led by sophomore Michelle Sulahian and junior Alison Wagner, who swept their opponents. Reveche was competing in a national tournament in Palm Springs. BOYS’ WATER POLO Westlake 9, Moorpark 7: Cole Olmon scored four goals and Austin Mcelvaney added three as host Westlake (10-6, 3-2) avoided a late Moorpark surge to claim a Marmonte League victory. Moorpark (12-4, 2-3) overcame a 6-1 deficit, scoring four straight goals to pull within one, but the Musketeers could get no closer. Trevor Johnson scored three goals for Moorpark. Harvard-Westlake 19, Alemany 7: Justin Reppel scored six goals and Corey Schwartz added four as Harvard-Westlake of Studio City routed Alemany of Mission Hills in a Mission League game. Matt Zamora scored three goals for Alemany. GIRLS’ FIELD HOCKEY Louisville 2, Santa Ana 0: Emily Hendrickson scored two goals on assists from freshman Lindsey Hearn to lead Louisville (3-6, 1-3) past visiting Santa Ana (2-7, 0-4) in a Golden West League game at Moorpark College. Hendrickson has scored a team-best four goals this season.
