Three major overseas tours for India this year and Bumrah has proven his worth in all the three places.India vs Australia, Boxing Day Test Day 3: Live Cricket ScoreBumrah’s 6/33 is also the best bowling figures for an Indian at the MCG.Earlier in the day, Bumrah broke a 39-year-old Indian record with the wicket of Shaun Marsh by taking 41 wickets (then) in his debut year in Test cricket. He surpassed Dileep Doshi’s record of 40 wickets in his debut year in Tests in 1979.Venkatesh Prasad is on third behind Doshi with 37 in 1996. Narendra Hirwani with 36 wickets in 1988 and Sreesanth with 35 in 2006 complete the top five.Out of his six wickets, Bumrah had two lbws, two bowled and two catch-outs. It was an absolutely brilliant piece of bowling from Bumrah. He was expected to the x-factor for India in Australia and he has delivered.advertisementHere is how Bumrah took his six wickets:MARCUS HARRIS: Bumrah used the short ball to good effect against Harris but it was a callous short from the Australian opener that brought about his dismissal. Ishant Sharma was placed at fine leg for the exact shot that Harris played and it ended up to be an easy catch.SHAUN MARSH: This wicket came right at the stroke of lunch. Final ball before lunch and Marsh was only looking to defend and go into the break but Bumrah had another idea. He bowled a peach of a delivery to catch Marsh leg before wicket (lbw) – a slower ball drifting inside and it hit the pads.TRAVIS HEAD: It was a near-perfect yorker that got Head for Bumrah. Bumrah bowled an extremely pacy delivery which was drifting in just slightly and Head just could not pick up that pace. The ball ended up cleaning up the stumps. Michael Clarke on the commentary was in awe of the delivery and said, “He’s [Head] done in for pace. He’s done for swing. Bumrah you are a genius.”An awesome display of fast bowling from Jasprit Bumrah!#AUSvIND | @Domaincomau pic.twitter.com/RcJAuIAPQhcricket.com.au (@cricketcomau) December 28, 2018TIM PAINE: Bumrah bowled a short of a length and it was drifting away slightly. Paine had a go at it even though he could have left it and Rishabh Pant behind the wickets took a solid low catch.NATHAN LYON: It was always going to be extremely tough for Lyon to survive on this pitch against this bowling attack and Bumrah proved it. An inswinging yorker but pace behind it, Lyon wanted to flick it – he missed it and it crashed straight into his pads.JOSH HAZLEWOOD: Hazlewood was beaten for pace there. A full-length delivery angling back into the left-hander chasing him literally. Hazlewood tried the flick and it instead hit his pads and into the stumps.During the post-lunch show on Sony Sports, Clarke had even said, “He [Bumrah] is my favourite bowler in international cricket right now.””He will run through a brick wall for this Indian team, bowl as many overs as Virat Kohli wants. He will bowl from whatever end Virat Kohli wants, he will bowl with the new ball, old ball. He doesn’t care, he wants to help India have success.”The way he bowls with his attitude, he will find a way to take wickets all around the world. Watch this space, in the next 12 months, he will be the No.1 bowler in all three formats in the world.”Also Read | Rohit Sharma responds to Tim Paine’s IPL banter: If he gets a hundred, we’ll buy himAlso Read | Viv Richards: Love Kohli’s aggression. UN food agency reopens office destroyed at height of Sri Lankan civil

18 June 2010The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) today officially reopened an office in the key northern Sri Lankan town of Kilinochchi, two years after it was destroyed during heavy fighting in the country’s protracted civil war. The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) today officially reopened an office in the key northern Sri Lankan town of Kilinochchi, two years after it was destroyed during heavy fighting in the country’s protracted civil war.“Much of the 7.5-acre office site had been destroyed following heavy aerial and ground bombardment,” WFP spokesperson Emilia Casella told journalists in Geneva, referring to the September 2008 closure because of clashes between Government forces and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).In May last year the Government declared victory over the LTTE after defeating their forces and recapturing rebel-held territory in the far north of the island nation. The new WFP offices, which consist of portable containers, will be expanded to include staff from the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), UN Development Programme (UNDP), UN Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS), Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).With four WFP staff now on the ground and more to arrive soon, the UN agency said it will be able to re-establish the monitoring of food dispatches to the targeted population in the area and support the ongoing resettlement and early-recovery process of the region.Even without an office, WFP has been providing food to the displaced population which includes some 62,000 people in camps and 228,000 others who had returned to their home districts. In addition, the agency provides 300,000 school lunches, and take-home rations to 27,000 pregnant and lactating women and small children. read more
